My first trip to Extreme Fear and I must say I am impressed!
Scare Factor: 5 Out Of 5
So yea, I JUMPED AND SCREAMED!!!!! I have never in my 22 years of life screamed at a haunt, it was a manly scream but it was a scream! There is a lot of scares here, and it is very impressive. This haunt is in the woods and they really use that to their advantage, it is awfully quite at times, and that is very different from the haunts I have been to. I am loving the fact that SLAPPY got scared as well, and I almost died laughing when Pinhead scared him because he was going to punch Pinheads lights out!
Actors: 5 Out Of 5
What a great group of people they have at Extreme Fear. The actors here love what they do and it shows, if they do not scare you on the first try they will get you again later. I love how the actors use the settings around them. Some will make you scream, some will make you jump, others will make you laugh.
Set Design/Props/FX: 4 Out Of 5
Extreme fear is not a place that has tons and tons of props, and expensive machines and all that jazz. They have great sets, and they place actors in them perfectly. I still love the fact that Pinhead was chained up. Every haunt I have seen Pinhead in he has been just walking around, why the heck would you let Pinhead walk around! Chain him up seriously lol. I think every set was set up greatly, Extreme Fear does a great job using the area that they have.
Length: 4 Out Of 5
I wish it was longer! I really do. It was great, in certain scenes the actors stop you, and have certain things set up. You get to take a elevator ride, and all sorts of awesome stuff! But I honestly wish it would have been longer!

I screamed....nuff said
I believe that this is the #1 haunt in Greensboro. If you can only go to 1 haunt in the Greensboro area defiantly check these guys out at Extreme Fear, they really do scare you!
First, let me start by saying... This is NOT the biggest featured haunt, but it is one of two so far that has actually delivered scares to me. There is no reason the parking lot of this haunt should not be packed every night. This was my 2nd time to this particular haunt. The review...
Scare Factor 5/5 - You will not see me give this high of a number very often, it just doesn't happen. But I jumped no less than half a dozen times at this haunt. Good timing from the actors, good ambiance out in the middle of the dimly-lit woods, diversionary tactics and a staff that is loving what they're doing even made a certain other Frightseeker scream like a little girl (*cough*Karma*cough*)
Actors 4/5 - Some of the best actors around. And I don't mean that they have $1000 plus costumes, or that they were "professionally trained". No, they were having fun, they had perfect timing, and they scared the crap out of you! It showed even after they closed how much fun these kids were having. That, however, is the reason I took only 1 point off. A lot of them were just that...kids. Sometimes it worked, and sometimes it didn't, but they did give it their all!
Set Design/Props/FX 4.5/5 - This ranks up there very high with the best use of natural surroundings. More haunts could benefit from this. Just because you're in the woods doesn't make those woods scary. Remind me that I'm in the middle of the woods, and I never know what might be coming at when, when, or from where! This haunt is not as "high tech" as some, but to me, the old school scares I find at fewer and fewer haunts like this are what make me jump!
Length 4/5 - To be honest...I wanted it to be longer! Yes, that's right, longer! I was kind of disappointed when it ended. But overall, a very good length. It didn't drag, even when you were just walking down a path through the woods. The scares were spaced just far enough apart to constantly keep you on your toes.
Overall 4.5/5 - More people need to make the drive to this haunt. It has the old-school feel I look for, with plenty of scares, a great staff, and an awesome atmosphere. While I'm never one to speak poorly of a haunt, do yourselves a favor; if you happen to be less than 5 miles away at a certain other haunt, make the drive to this one and remember what a haunt is really all about.
A special thanks to Linda and her entire cast and crew for a great time, and some great conversation. Good luck with the rest of the season, and I'll be handing out some flyers ASAP!

...and now for the second haunt from 10/20, Forest of Horror. This was about 5 minutes down the road from the other haunt, which was nice. But this was a completely different world. First, much shorter line, not the big spectacle that some other haunts are. Please understand that this is what a haunt should be, in my opinion. Noisy people, the smell of funnel cakes and long lines do not set the mood for a haunt. Regardless, the mood here was much more sullen, much more tense, much more 'mood-setting.'
Scare Factor: 4/5 Regardless of the two young females behind me that jumped and screamed at everything, there was a decent scare factor here. Actors jumping out at unknown, appropriate places, good dark places, good camouflage.
Actors: 5/5 Very good at staying motionless. Some I didn't even know were actors until they jumped at me. The others stayed in character very well, followed you just long enough, and actually seemed like they were having fun.
Set Design/Props/FX: 4/5 The one room smelled a little too much like a barn, but other than that, very good. No air cannons (yay!), no cheesey scenes with narrarators (except one), and the walk through the woods was just creepy. It all flowed together well. However, what looked to be an awesome rebirth of Freddie was a big overture with a tiny opera. A slight let down, but the effects were great.
Length: 4/5 Compared to other haunts in the same price range, the length was pretty good. It could have been a bit longer, but perhaps it seemed so short because of one of two things. One, the 2 females practically pushing us through it, or two, because the previous haunt I visited seemed to go on forever. Regardless, decent length.
This was more my kind of haunt. No big spectacle, just scares. There were some very impressive costumes, cool scenes, even smells on this one. Plus, some of the walking through the woods was just creepy in its own right.

Hey Linda! As always your Forest of Horror was a lot of fun and each year you seem to find new and better ways to scare, and amaze me. The attention to detail through out the whole trail is some of the best I have seen. I loved the new additions like the Freddy Kruger memorial, and each year it seems like the trail actually gets longer and darker. Forest of Horror is a MUST for any haunted attraction enthusiasts, and I am a forever fan. Look forward to seeing you next year!
